Q:

With the open water referral program - would it be possible to do the academic program online, directly through SSI ?

Lindsey H.  asked on  Dec 5, 2012

A:

SSI does have an on-line application for the academics, and it is FREE. Once you have completed the on-line sessions you can complete the homework sections in your SSI Open Water Diver Manual and attend our classes, both academic and pool. The on-line session does not replace actual classroom sessions. The instructor is a very important component in your scuba training and much of the academic material is supplemented by the instructor with actual analogies to local or warm water diving.

Q:

Where do you normally do your certification dives?

TheRuggedIdeal  asked on  Dec 5, 2012

A:

We use dive sites on Cape Ann. The towns of Rockport and Gloucester have several public beaches that are easy access, parking is available and the beach entry allows a gradual increase in water depth. Most dives are conducted in the 20-30ft depth range.

Q:

For the open-water referral course, would it be possible to do the academic portion online through SSI directly?

Lindsey H.  asked on  Dec 4, 2012

A:

SSI does have an on-line program that is free to use. It is a convenient way to work your way through the academics. You will still need to complete the student review question sessions at the end of the SSI Open Water manual and attend all academic sessions where your SSI Instructor will review the material and add to it with pertinent info applied to actual diving situations.

Q:

If I did my online course with PADI, can I do my pool dives with you guys?

Katie  asked on  Dec 4, 2012

A:

UNfortunately not. When you signed up for the on-line training with PADI you should have designated a training facility you planned on using. NOrtheast Scuba is an SSI facility. You are welcome to attend our complete course (academics and pool) in order to attain your referral and you can then finish off the open water dives while away on vacation.
