There are some things that the North and South simply don't see eye to eye on. However, there's one thing both sides can agree on: barbecue is delicious. This common ground is the inspiration behind Northern Smoke, where owner Chris DeRuzza puts a northeastern spin on southern-style barbecue.
His menu features all the classics, from smoked brisket to baby back ribs, made with spices and ingredients common around New York. But he also reinvents East Coast favorites by infusing them with slow-cooked 'cue. Consider the BBQ Philly sandwich, a take on the cheesesteak that marries pulled pork or chopped brisket with sautéed onions and peppers, sharp cheddar, and raspberry-chipotle barbecue sauce. To pair with these meaty entrees, Chef DeRuzza also whips up homemade sauces and seasonal sides like sweet potato tots and collard greens dressed with an Asian garlic sauce.
