During a 45-minute Shoot and Share class, an instructor introduces and expands on topics such as composition, lighting, color, and lens choice. Students implement their new knowledge on a photo safari down Central Avenue. Classes are capped at 20 students, and held on Wednesday and Sunday evenings and Saturday mornings.
With a focus on family photos, NorthLight Photography is able to document each step of a family's journey together. Starting with nuptial snapshots, photographers use a mix of low and high angles to create dynamic wedding collages that capture the frenetic energy of the day and confusion about what projectiles are socially acceptable to throw at the bride and groom. Next comes baby photos and posed family portraits, which can be shot in the subjects' home or at the studio located in the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. When she’s not taking photos, founder Janet Boschker—who has been honored for her accomplishments in children's photography and photojournalism—shares some of her trade secrets through introductory Shoot and Share photo classes.

About NorthLight Photography
A mop of hair fringes an infant's milky-white face, his plump cheeks reminiscent of a porcelain doll. Though the image is black and white, the boy's eyes are as striking as any baby blues—reflections of the white linens gathered around his legs add depth and life to his playful gaze. This photograph, which won Janet Boschker the Canon Par Excellence Award in 2010, is but one of many that have earned the photographer numerous accolades.
At Northlight Photography, the Boschker's own studio, the photographer flaunts her signature blend of award-winning artistry in custom portraiture. Whether capturing the innocence of a child, the love of a family, or the excitement of a special event, she strives to turn each image into an artistic and timeless representation of its subject. The expert also shares some of her trade secrets through introductory and advanced photo classes.
