What You'll Get
When Native Americans first appeared on film in 1895, they were excluded from any significant role in the film's production, robbing them of their own cinematic voice -- and the marginalization of their culture in the entertainment industry still continues today. Through Indian Eyes: Native American Cinema creates visibility of indigenous people through a showcase of movies that take command of their own representation. Spanning various genres and featuring works produced in Canada and the US, this film festival gives a voice to a large cross-section of tribal communities. Come see these profound, powerful and inspiring screenings when they come to Portland's Whitsell Auditorium. Please see event description for more details on the lineup.
