During three-hour outings, American Canoe Association certified guides escort groups over flat waters, helping paddlers of all skill levels master proper navigation and safety techniques. They equip paddlers with kayaks, paddles, flotation devices, and whistles, as well as dry bags for stowing personal items. Most tours run Thursday–Sunday from May 1 to October 31 during fair weather, departing at 9 a.m., 1 p.m., and at sunset (between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. depending on the time of year) from the northwest corner of the Norton Reservoir. A limited number of tours are also available Monday–Wednesday.

Since the leaders depend on Mother Nature for their livelihood and letters of recommendation, they enforce a carry-in/carry-out practice that ensures guests leave no litter behind.
