Q:

I read that you are "non-profit" but that doesn't mean that a large percentage of the donation actually goes towards the cause. "Non-profits" can spend all the donations throwing great parties with the donations in a guise of getting more funding. Can you tell us what percentage of each dollar is actually used for the cause, not advertisements, payroll for employees, or things like that. I think this is such a great cause, I've heard that it can take up to two years for some to receive treatment. Waiting more than 24 hours is too long when they need help and it's horrible that the VA can't support our soldiers. So good for you if the money is really going to help people in the military and I would love to make a donation.

Barbara s.  asked on  Jun 24, 2013

A:

Hi Barbara, Yes, you are correct. The average wait time now with the VA just to have your paperwork approved can be over 172 days (and can be over 300). We are proud to say that we can get someone seen within 72 hours if it is critical. To your question, 100% of donations that come in through this Groupon campaign will go DIRECTLY to programs. In general, we operate at a 15% administrative costs, 85% to programs and donations level. We run very lean so that more money can go to the military families. Let me know if you have any other questions. You can email me directly at danielle@notalone.com. So grateful, Danielle PS...our financials can be found on our website at www.notalone.com

Q:

Hi I would like to donate as my son is in the Army aNd is going to be deployed to Afghanistan in August. I am so incredibly proud of him and his decision to fight for our country, but honestly I tried to talk him out of joining due to PTSD. I can't imagine viewing The horrors and not coming home and needing some support. I have met many men and women with issues of drinking and drugs and anger after coming home. I am just curious I would go to the website And make a more sizable donation, but could you tell me how much of each donation actually goes to the soldier or his family and how much goes towards administrative costs? Thank you for offering such a wonderful and valuable service to the entire family . God bless and keep our service men and women safe. Cynthia g

Cynthia B.  asked on  Jun 21, 2013

A:

Hi Cynthia, First of all, God Bless your son for his service!! 100% of all donations through this Groupon campaign will go DIRECTLY to services and programs! You can "buy" multiple donations on this campaign (simply change the number from 1 to whatever number you would like to put in when you purchase) so that 100% of your donation will go directly to helping. If you want to make a donation on our site, www.notalone.com simply note that you want 100% of your donation to be allocated towards counseling and we can ensure that happens. Feel free to email me directly at danielle@notalone.com. I am happy to talk with you more. So Grateful! Danielle

Thank you so much for bringing this charity to Groupon, I don't think I would have known about it otherwise. I'm thrilled to see Not Alone's commitment to both vets and mental health. Thank you!

Q:

Why donate through Groupon--are you or partners matching our donations?

julie  asked on  Jun 20, 2013

A:

Hi Julie, This campaign does not have a matching partner or donor. 100% of what comes in does come straight to Not Alone. Groupon does not keep any of the money they give it all to Not Alone and have been wonderful supporters. Let me know if you have any other questions! Danielle Danielle@notalone.com

Q:

I am the director of a non-profit social service agency serving homeless Veterans in Oregon. I wanted to learn more about "Not Alone" so I hit the link to their website and was directed to a message that said I was in the wrong place. So I goggled "Not Alone" and found their website where it stated that they are no longer providing one on one counseling services. Thus, it seems that this groupon is very misleading for very much needed services.

Kari W.  asked on  Jun 20, 2013

A:

Hi Kari, I am checking with Groupon as to why the link is not working. Sorry about that! The website is http://www.notalone.com as I believe you found. We are indeed still offering face to face counseling on a per case basis. It is a very much needed service. If you've been on our website, you will see that we offer a variety of programs and services. We are 100% philanthropically funded so that is why campaigns like this are vital. I appreciate you reaching out to us. Email me if you have any other questions or thoughts. Danielle Danielle@notalone.com

I am a local psychologist in Salt Lake City. I work with vets who have PTSD. If you need a resource here, feel free to call me @ 801-363-1455. You can view my profile on Psychology Today. Click the "find a therapist" after you enter salt lake city. My mother has PTSD from WWII so I am passionate about the cause. Jim Stringham Ph.D., LCSW

Q:

When I clicked on the link to learn more about this organization before making a donation, I keep getting a message that there is an error no link found. What is the correct address for their website then? I would like to know a little something about this organization before I donate any money. I just want to be sure that my money will go to help Vets. Thank you, Pat

Patricia A.  asked on  Jun 20, 2013

A:

Hi Pat, I am checking with Groupon about the link. It is http://www.notalone.com to visit our website. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Let me know if you have any questions! Thanks! Danielle
