What You'll Get
Humans have been putting spherical objects in hoops for centuries, but until the invention of the dunk, the fast break, and face dribbling, it wasn't an activity worth watching. See if "basketball" lives up to the hype with this Groupon.
Choose Between Two Options
- $159 for a two-day Perfect Shots Shooting Academy on Wednesday, July 11, and Thursday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (a $329.99 value)
- $159 for a two-day Premier Point Guard Academy on Saturday, September 1 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m and Sunday, September 2, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (a $329.99 value)
Two days of basketball workshops are hosted by college, Euroleague, and NBA Developmental League player and coach David Nurse and a team of well-dribbled experts. Men, women, boys, and girls gather in groups of 50 to clutch a specially designed shooting basketball—the red, white, and blue “Pill” basketball, designed by coach Nurse—that helps shooters perfect their back spin, shoot straighter, and look more American. After two days of intensive shooting drills, participants will understand the fundamentals of a correct shooting form.
Point-guard training focuses on ball-handling skills such as dribbling and passing. Once they achieve control, players learn the fundamentals of on-court vision, which teaches them how to seek out teammates in game-time situations.
Each program includes a personalized workout that allows players to continue practicing on their own. They’ll also receive their own “Pill” basketball, as well as an iSwish workout manual currently used by a number of NBA D-League players and overzealous gym teachers. Academies run from 9 a.m.–4 p.m., with a lunch break from 11:45 a.m.–1:15 p.m. and are designed for 7th graders and older.

About Nurse Perfect Shots Shooting Academy
Current coach and former player Nick Nurse built his 25-year basketball career on a beautiful shot. He still holds the record at the University of Northern Iowa for highest three-point shooting percentage, and his fundamental approach to instruction led him to nine championships as a head coach in the Euroleague and the 2010-2011 NBA Developmental League championship, the same season he won Coach of the Year. His most recent accolade was an invitation to be an assistant on the Great Britain national team in the 2012 Olympics.
Coach Nick’s formula for success has remained simple: work hard, practice, and live forever. He brings this philosophy to his shooting and point-guard academies. Boys, girls, men, and women of all ages and ability levels can improve their games by working on their basic skill sets. Shooting camps focus on the most underrated aspect of basketball, shooting, by forcing students to repeatedly hoist the “Pill” practice ball through the hoop. The "Pill" uses alternating color panels and bold, straight lines to help players see the backspin and release angle they put into each shot, making it easier to adjust where necessary. Point-guard academies take these skills to the next level by adding work with dribbling, passing, and on-court vision.:
