Oak Highlands Brewery

Brad Mall and Derrin Williams are not only proud Lake Highlands locals, but craft-beer lovers, too. So it makes sense that they would open Oak Highlands Brewery, a more than 16,000-square-foot taproom and brewery on Brockwood Road. The massive space, opened in July of 2015, features ample tables and seating, a pair of dartboards, a giant Jenga set, and a bar complete with in-house draft brews.

Here's a quick look at a few of the beers you might find on draft:

  • Derelict IPA: a big, bitter beer, this American-style IPA is infused with five separate hop additions to create a strong citrus aroma and hoppy flavor sure to please hop heads (6.1% ABV)

  • Freaky Deaky: Belgian Tripel-style ale. Light in color and brewed with a larger amount of American hops than a traditional tripel. (10% ABV)

  • DFDub: this medium-bodied dunkelweizen offers drinkers robust banana and clove flavors, including a banana aftertaste for a balanced, complex wheat beer (7.1% ABV)

  • Charity: this crisp German alt-style ale boasts a strong malt backbone, but finishes dry and moderately hoppy—plus, 10% of its sales benefit a nonprofit organization (5.3% ABV)

Great beers! Our tour was with one of the Partners, Derrin Williams. What a great guy. Family atmosphere for sure but it makes it a lot of fun to be around the brewery. Good BBQ too.
