Like Shakira, a fluid golf swing harnesses snappy hip movements, looks amazing, and catches the eye of every passerby. Brush up on your swing physics with today’s Groupon: for $19, you and one other person get to play the nine-hole course (up to a $30 value) with a golf cart (a $12 value) at Oak Hills Golf Club in Oak Creek. This Groupon is not valid for tee times after 2 p.m. on weekdays or before 2 p.m. on weekends, and is not valid for leagues or outings.
Oak Hills Golf Club is a beautifully maintained public course with kempt fairways, rolling greens, and a plethora of obstacles including roughs, sand traps, creeks, trees, and Mother Nature chatting during your follow through. Out-birdie your opponent through a close virtual study of each hole prior to your game, and get a leg up on your partner's short game with a stint on the practice green (included in green fee). With challenging par three and par four holes, you’ll have to use every ball-launching conduit in your bag of sticks. Even if your strategy undies fail, enjoy the splendor of the course from the chauffer's seat of your golf cart.
Though not included in the Groupon, Oak Hills Golf Club also has a 250-yard driving range where duffers can practice not conjuring banshees with their swings ($4 for small basket of balls, $6 for large). After your game, grab a bucket of balls and head to the range, or celebrate the victor’s beginner's luck with sandwiches, grilled goodies, and drinks at The Back Nine.
You must call ahead to schedule your tee time.
Oak Hills Golf Club
Towering oaks and spectacular willow trees frame Oak Hills Golf Club’s nine-hole course, standing guard as clubbers traverse the 1,845-yard, par 31 course. The relatively short layout—which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2016—features bunker-fortified greens and water hazards on multiple holes. With no par 5's and only one hole longer than 300 yards, the course enables golfers to feasibly reach the green off the tee on eight different holes.
At the Club’s pro shop, players can peruse a wide selection of clubs with which to upgrade their old set of modified crowbars, and the 250-yard driving range offers a venue for players to test out new equipment or improve imbalanced swings. After a long day of tracing drives into the ether, golfers can retreat to The Back Nine Restaurant to enjoy a cool beverage, tuck into a meal of traditional grill fare, and watch the sun slide slowly beneath the earth's flat surface.
