Euripides' 2,400-year-old anti-war tragedy The Trojan Women comes to modern-day Africa in an electrifying reimagining for our troubled times. Vividly recounting the final moments of Trojan civilization in the aftermath of the city's sacking by the invading Greeks, this classical drama follows Queen Hecuba, the slave-concubine Andromache and the mythic Helen as they gather together in the ruins and come to terms with the horrors visited upon them by gods and men. As Hecuba, star Qamara Black makes her return to the Obsidian Theater stage, where she previously won Houston Press' Best Actress of 2014 for her powerhouse performance in Lynn Nottage's Ruined.
