Widely considered one of Shakepseare's greatest works, The Tempest has inspired a wide-range of adaptions, from poetry and paintings to operas and films like Forbidden Planet. Now Odyssey Theatre Ensemble and The New American Theatre Production take the lyrical masterpiece and add their own electrifying twist with Tempest Redux. The story tells the tale of Prospero, an exiled duke who lives as the master of an enchanted isle where fantastical creatures, mystery and romance abound. A shipwreck delivers Prospero's enemies to the island, and the plot thickens when his beloved daughter falls for the enemy's son. It's a magical tale about the transformative power of forgiveness and the bond between parent and child. Featuring a blend of dance, theater and spoken word, John Farmanesh-Bocca's innovative reconstruction will take the classic play to new heights when it premieres at Los Angeles' Odyssey Theatre.
There will be a post show discussion following the March 9, 2016 and April 1, 2016 performances.
