Like Mike Tyson, wine is usually robust, is often boxed, and should never influence tattooing decisions. Imbibe the spirit of a champion with today’s Groupon: for $25, you get a 90-minute wine tasting for four at Oeno Winemaking in Kailua (a $60 value).
Oeno Winemaking's tasting session enraptures taste buds with six or more selections from an extensive international collection of wines. Led by a husband-and-wife duo of wine connoisseurs, owners Greg and Lindsay Minarik, the wine-tasting event brings curious palates into contact with a selection of vinos according to styles that the group prefers, are available, and have the best table manners. As the tasting proceeds, the Minariks bestow a wealth of wine-crafting and wine-tasting knowledge upon sippers as the group marvels at the complexities of each fermented beverage. Tasters can apply lessons lifted from the session to bottling, labeling, and packaging wine themselves on later visits while learning about what happens after wine is ready for consumption. Although the Groupon is for a group of four, the tasting session accommodates up to 12 tasters, each of which are encouraged to bring their own snacks and nonincendiary fireworks to enjoy along with the wine.
At Oeno Winemaking, owners Marshall Ziegler and Bryon Crowther want to share their passion for wine with others. To that end, they offer a variety of unique experiences that help customers learn about and explore the winemaking process. Tasting sessions let customers sample a range of varietals and take home a bottle or two of their favorite. Paint and wine classes give budding artists a chance to create wine-fueled masterpieces. And the staff will even walk customers through the process of creating their own handcrafted personalized wine, whether it's to celebrate a big birthday or to simply stock an at-home cellar.
