A really fun way to see part of Victoria. It was the perfect combination of just the right amount of delicious, interesting food (and drink-the tea was wonderful!)

This was a great way to spend an afternoon discovering new places to eat. We enjoyed each of the places we visited and will go back to each one. There was plenty of tea to drink at Terroir, small food samples at Choux Choux Charcuterie, La Taquisa and Yalla but Crust Bakery more than made up for it with three generous and delicious cakes. I would happily book another tour with off the eaten track and MaryLou.

Bonnie is very knowledgeable about the businesses you visit and the history of the area. The food stops were excellent, great choices and a couple of hidden gems. Would definitely recommend the tour for a fun afternoon activity with some tips for foodies you can use down the road.

About Off The Eaten Track

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

We offer unique and delicious food tours that explore local neighbourhoods and visit small, locally-owned food businesses. We visit restaurants, bakeries, butcher shops, and more to sip and sample our way through the city while learning history, stories, and gettting insider tips on where to eat and shop. Unlike some tourist companies, we take guests off the tourist grid and explore truly local neighbourhoods.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

After working in the tourism industry in BC for over 10 years, we wanted to start a tourism company that gave guests and insider and local view of the city. We were also passionate about food and as a frequent traveller, we always appreciated food as a cultural experience. So we combined our love of tourism with food and created a food tour company that gives guests the opportunity to taste local food but also a better understanding of the city they are exploring through history.

What do you love most about your job?

Working with our local tour partners and watching them take pride in showing our guests their food! We only use local small businesses and it is inspiring and exciting to watch them interact with our guests and to witness the pride they feel when they bring out their food and talk about their business. Oh and eating all the great food is a bonus too!

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?

We've had lot's of guests return to the restaurants that we visit for a second, third, and even a fourth visit and we've had guests that have found their new favorite local restaurant on the tour and that is fantastic.
