Paintball is like a production of Hamlet: it's exciting, demanding, and by the end everyone has pretend-died. Take paintball arms against a sea of troubles with today's Groupon: for $22, you get a full-day paintball package at Off the Wall Adventures (a $45 value). This package includes all necessary field fees and equipment rentals, unlimited air tank refills, and 500 paintballs.
A jam-packed funucopia of activities that sprawls across 15 acres along Shepherd Road, Off the Wall Adventures treats newcomers and veterans to four different paintball fields where they can engage in Technicolor combat. Each color commando will be issued a protective facemask, air tank, paintball gun, and ammunition, then set loose onto the fields of foray. On the X-Ball course, confused Civil War re-enactors can fearlessly dodge incoming fire and take cover behind inflatable bunkers. The Hyperball field's corrugated pipes protect torsos from being splattered into abstract expressionist works of death during faster-paced rounds. On the Woodsball field's naturally forested setting, wise-cracking platoons can stalk their prey through brush, pump opponents full of pigment as they cower behind trees, or take shelter in the Gauntlet, a three-story fort that gives snipers numerous vantage points of the surrounding area. The Castle—the largest of the paintball arenas— is a 5,000-square-foot space encircled by wooden bunkers and spotted with barrels for players to take rodeo clown-like cover against charging, snorting paint-bulls.
Player safety at Off the Wall Adventures is a top concern and referees enforce the rules and monitor behavior during game play. Off the Wall Adventures does not rent tuxedos, beekeeper’s outfits, or any other possible paintball attire, so come prepared with appropriate clothing for play. Paintball hours are Friday from 7 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Players may bring their own equipment, but paintballs must be purchased from the shop.
While Off the Wall Adventures offers special discounts on certain days of the week, this Groupon still represents the best deal possible.
