Like tinsel, guitar solos, and incriminating legal papers, sauerkraut is best finely shredded. Enjoy this slivered specialty of the Old World with today's Groupon to the third annual Oktober Family Fest on Saturday, October 8. Admission to the festival is free. Choose from the following options:

Oktober Family Fest draws all-ages visitors to taste traditional German fare and revel in carnival rides, games, and concerts. Pairs or quartets of guests who opt for a dinner option choose between pre-assembled platters. A smoked pork chop does battle with dastardly sauerkraut and pickled beets on combo plate number 1, and combo plate number 2 hosts a culinary fashion show where bratwurst struts the runway draped in sauerkraut or onions and peppers. Dinner number 3 pairs a hot dog with an adoring entourage of chips for child-size jaws. German-style potato salad chaperones both adult meals, and a traditional German sweetheart cookie caps off all three options with a sweet, ginger crunch. Though not included with this deal, of-age visitors convey fare flotillas to stomach ports with rivers of Leinenkugel's beer ($6 for 16 oz.) from the Biergarten.

Alternately, children equipped with unlimited-ride wristbands frolic across the wide-open fairgrounds to tackle myriad rides, twirling around swing rides and sashaying through the mouth of an inflatable shark slide.

Accessible to all merry-makers, kid-friendly musical acts grace the festival's stages from 1:30 p.m. to 10 p.m., including the German polka band Alpen Spielers. Shake off mobs of invading freckles to the acoustic guitar stylings of Jim Cosgrove, a.k.a. Mr. Stinky Feet, or witness a Beatles musical spectacle during Liverpool, a Beatles tribute band.

By purchasing this deal you'll unlock points which can be spent on discounts and rewards. Every 5,000 points can be redeemed for $5 Off your next purchase.
