There is a lot of walking and some of the sidewalks are uneven, but it is very doable for most everyone. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes if you plan to walk all of Old Salem.

Definitely worth it. I took my daughter and granddaughter and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

What You'll Get

The earliest history museums had little actual history to draw on, and instead padded exhibits with wildly speculative displays about how dinosaurs would be elected to Congress by the year 2000. See how far we’ve come with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $12 for an all-in-one day pass for one adult (up to a $23 value)
  • $34 for all-in-one day passes for two adults and two children (up to a $68 value)

In addition to open access to the grounds and gardens, day passes include a 45-minute guided tour of the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts, which showcases the region’s folk art, ceramics, textiles, and Far Side calendars dating as far back as 1670.

About Old Salem Museums & Gardens

Old Salem Museums & Gardens whisks visitors to the cozy streets of a reconstructed 18th-century and 19th-century Moravian town that encompasses 100 restored and reclaimed buildings and expansive, pristine gardens. As they stroll through the 90-acre homage to early Americana, visitors can interact with historical interpreters, view trade demonstrations, and participate in hands-on activities. Old Salem's horticultural marvels include the Miksch Garden—a living illustration of Moravian subsistence farming—and the Family Gardens of Salt Street, which demonstrate the innovative practice of seed saving. In addition to year-round attractions, special exhibits rotate through town, celebrating momentous occasions, and notable people. After traversing the grounds, visitors can peruse souvenirs at a number of gift shops or walk into Winkler’s Bakery for a piece of renowned Moravian sugar cake.
