What You'll Get
After the sea god Poseidon, Greek cuisine is the peninsula nation's most glorious export in its multimillennia history. Spear a delectable morsel with your miniature trident with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of Greek lunch or dinner cuisine and drinks. Choose from the following locations:
- Spiro's Taverna on North U.S. Highway 1 in Jupiter
- Olympic Diner on Southwest Martin Downs Boulevard in Palm City
- Olympic Taverna on Northwest Federal Highway in Jensen Beach
This sisterly trio of Greek restaurants delights flavor sensors with traditional and modern Greek cuisine, sharing the same tasty menu and Old World ambience with painted wall murals and faux colonnades. Dive kisser-first into a gooey snack with flaming cheese saganaki, featuring Greek kasseri cheese cooked to a bubbly, golden brown and flamed with brandy ($6.95), or allow dolmades to enter the tongue's abode and snake-charm taste buds with stuffed grape leaves drizzled in lemon sauce, served hot with pita bread ($5.95). Traditional Greek-ophiles can sink their cuspids into a gyro sandwich blended with seasoned beef and lamb, sliced thin, and topped with tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and tzatziki sauce on thick pita bread ($7.95), or record the precise melting temperature of tender, braised lamb shank when it enters the mouth, smothered in tomato-based brown gravy ($12.95).
Libations such as the bottled Greek beer Mythos ($3.95) or myriad domestic brews, as well as a wine list, balance out the food-to-liquid ratio, and house-made desserts such as Yiayia's baklava ($4.95) seal the meal and ward off unsolicited, motherly advice about being too thin.
At the Jensen Beach and Jupiter locations, Greek belly dancers wiggle, undulate, and control tide patterns with their navel acreage to the delight of patrons every Friday and Saturday night at 7 p.m., 8 p.m., and occasionally 9 p.m. The restaurants recommend calling ahead for reservations on Friday and Saturday nights.
