What You'll Get
Like freeways paved with molten wildflowers and cars that honk with the sound of birdsongs, the San Francisco area’s lush gardens and verdant landmarks maintain natural beauty amid the urban landscape. Sustaining and grooming these green spaces often requires the dedicated efforts of community members. One Brick mobilizes individuals with a variety of project-oriented volunteer opportunities that aim to produce a concrete improvement in the community. With today's G-Team deal, you can sign up to volunteer with One Brick in one of four outdoor-gardening projects to help rejuvenate urban vistas in the San Francisco area. A One Brick representative will be stationed at each site to aid volunteers and all necessary tools and materials will be provided. Choose from the following options:
- If 20 G-Team members sign up, they will be able to paint and garden at Children’s Fairyland in Oakland on Saturday, May 28 from 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
- If 22 G-Team members sign up, they will be able to mulch and weed plants at the San Francisco Botanical Garden on Saturday, May 28 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- If 30 G-team members sign up, they will be able to weed and mulch crops at the Full Circle Farm in Sunnyvale on Sunday, May 29 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- If 60 G-Team members sign up, they will be able to weed and load trucks at the Rhododendron Dell in Golden Gate Park on Sunday, May 29 from 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
Children’s Fairyland G-Team helpers will paint, prune, and restore the areas surrounding the whimsical rides and storybook-themed activities in the park, which have enchanted families for more than six decades. Or volunteers can help maintain the plant sanctuary of the San Francisco Botanical Garden by mulching and weeding its opulent grounds. The fertile soils of the botanical garden cultivate a bevy of Mediterranean, mild-temperate, and tropical-cloud-forest plants in semi-natural habitats, providing feasts for both the eyes and nose.
The nonprofit Full Circle Farm grows fresh fruit and vegetables to distribute to Santa Clara–school cafeterias. G-Team members can engage in light farm labor by performing mulching and thinning among the row crops and in the fruit orchard. Farm experiences will also include a tour and shopping trip to the farm stand. Volunteers can also join their G-Team brethren in helping weed out excess foliage to highlight hundreds of colorful petals at the Rhododendron Dell, which spotlights more than 850 varieties of the plant for the perusal of Golden Gate Park visitors.
Unlike traditional Groupon deals, G-Team campaigns typically don't offer you a "discount" or "savings." So "buyer" beware—when you click "Buy" to donate your time or money to a worthwhile G-Team cause, the only discount you may receive is 100% off free, priceless karma. Read more about G-Team.
