Early man made many attempts at flying, such as sewing feathers onto his arms and scaling mountain peaks in order to cling to the underbellies of passing comets. Learn to fly the new-fashioned way with today's Groupon for a flight lesson from OpenAir Flight Training in Gaithersburg. Choose between the following options:

  • For $180, you get a one-hour flight lesson in a Cessna 172 (a $372.35 total value, including tax). This includes both in-air and preflight ground instruction from an experienced instructor (a $342.50 value), a logbook (a $9.95 value), and a fuel charge (an $8 value).

  • For $215, you get a one-hour flight lesson in a Cirrus SR20 (a $448.67 total value including tax). This includes both in-air and preflight ground instruction from an experienced flight instructor (a $412.50 value), a logbook (a $9.95 value), and a fuel charge (a $9 value).

OpenAir Flight Training is a certified Cirrus Standardized Training Center that prides itself on its highly qualified instructors, thorough curriculum, and stock of top-tech aircrafts. Before taking a one-hour airborne journey in a Cessna 172 or Cirrus SR20, pupils are asked to open their eyes, ears, and brain purses to soak up valuable soaring skills, such as how to decipher local sky maps and say “Skedaddle!” in goose. Once the plane is cuddled up with the clouds, skysplorers can ogle the earth from above as an aerial educationalist slings facts about the five fundamentals of flight—climbing, descending, turning, baking the perfect lasagna, and level flight. After gliding over noted landmarks such as Harpers Ferry while traversing three states, planes return to solid ground, and a veteran flight instructor presents future sky monarchs with their first logbook to record the trip and future flights en route to earning a private pilot’s license.
