About Open Gym Premier
Back in the early 2000s, Orange County had a shortage of quality basketball training. Thanks to Matt Kanne—the young entrepreneur who launched Open Gym Premier in 2011—that’s no longer the case. Although his proposal for Open Gym Premier was recognized in business-plan competitions, Matt knew he needed to consult with experts to guarantee its programs’ rigor. So he assembled a dream team to develop Orange County’s youth players. The team includes former NCAA Division I ballers, an athlete who played professionally in Europe, high-school and AAU coaches, a performance trainer who's worked with professional athletes, and a preeminent specialist in improving vertical jump.
Together, they run camps, clinics, and teams designed to give boys and girls a leg up on the competition and an eternal love of the game. Complex drills emphasize ball handling, defensive moves, and other fundamental skills, while conditioning improves jump height, speed, and endurance. Training scrimmages, league games, and Open Gym–organized tournaments help players hone the basketball IQ and experience they'll need in future tryouts.
