"Welcome home," someone will exclaim as you walk through the door of Open Porch. Do you live there? Of course not, but the team is dedicated to making people feel at home. The crew creates this sense of community in the more obvious ways—rocking chairs in the windows, comfy armchairs to curl up and play board games in—as well as more meaningful ones. Open Porch sources coffee from Café Kreyol, a sustainable roastery in Haiti that shares its profits with poverty-stricken regions across the Caribbean and Central America. It also has its own outreach program, ChariTEA, through which it donates time and money to local and global non-profits.
In addition to its carefully sourced coffees and teas, Open Porch serves a menu of all-day breakfast and mini donuts. Sliders are sandwiched on the kitchen's own potato rolls, in variations ranging from egg and cheese to caprese salad.
