Q:

what are your hours? is the office open on Saturdays?

ashraf a.  asked on  Sep 20, 2012

A:

The office is open one Saturday a month for consultations but the nurse doing IPL treatments only works Monday through Friday. She can work you in at the end or at the beginning of the day so as not to conflict with your work schedule. Dr. Juris Bunkis

Q:

Why arent there phone #s listed for the 3 offices and only one phone # posted on their web site. I called and only found an answering machine. What is the Newport office phone #? What machine is used for the IPL, make and model # ?

Laura H.  asked on  Sep 21, 2012

A:

You called after 5 pm, our office closes at 5 but if you left a message, you'll get a call back in the morning. We see patients in Newport Beach (4501 Birch Street), San Clemente (108 South El Camino Real) and in Rancho Santa Margarita (30212 Tomas). We have many phone lines but all funnel into the 949-888-9700 number, no matter which office staff is at - to make it easier for you! The IPL machine is made by Lumenis, model called Quantum - by far the best one around. Dr. Bunkis

Q:

Does this procedure work or is recommend on Asian skin to remove hyperpigmentation/freckles on the face? What kind of laser do you use?

Kim N.  asked on  Sep 20, 2012

A:

This offer is for an Intense Pulse Light Treatment. Yes, it can help Asian skin with hyperpigmentation, but for optimal results you should use an MD Performance(R) Skin Lumination Kit prior to your IPL. This product can be purchased directly from MD Performance(R) at http://mdperformance.com/store/products/category/skin-lightening Dr. Bunkis

Q:

Does the groupon $79/IPL include the pretreat with RetinA.....? thank you.

Lily V.  asked on  Sep 20, 2012

A:

No. You can definitely pre treat with Retin A. Retin A and Retinol Repair Gel by MD Performance(R) Professional Skin Care line require a prior office visit and a prescription. May I suggest you try MD Performance(R)'s Retinol Skin Smoothing Serum in advance, not a prescription item and available at http://mdperformance.com/store/products/retinol-skin-smoothing-serum Dr. Bunkis

kelly s.  asked on  Sep 20, 2012

The visit/treatment take 30 to 45 minutes Dr. Bunkis

Q:

Is this treatment the same as a "photo facial" where a light is put over the face and zapped? I've bought an IPL before from other places but it turned out it is not the same as what I had expected.

Stazie L.  asked on  Sep 20, 2012

A:

You will get a full consultation and if another type of treatment is more effective for you, we will discuss this with you. An IPL and a Photo Facial are similar but use different types of lights. Good for minor sun damage and pigmentation. For really severe damage, a more potent therapy will be recommended.
