What You'll Get
The live cabaret-concert series that takes you "behind the musical," Ordway's Broadway Songbook shines its latest spotlight on composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb, the blockbuster creative team whose credits include Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spider Woman and more. Filled with backstage stories and background info, this entertaining and educational show explores the duo's signature "razzle-dazzle" style through their better-known songs, as well as their lesser-known gems, over the course of their 40-year partnership. Ironically, one of their most famous tunes, "New York, New York," came from Martin Scorsese's movie of the same name, not the stage, and became a signature song for greats like Frank Sinatra and Liza Minnelli. The series is hosted by Broadway vet James Rocco.
