Cooking food over an open flame can impart smoky flavor and seal in savory juices, but cooking food over an eternal flame can get a bobsledding team kicked out of the Olympics. Get your fill of flame-cooked fare with today's Groupon: $6 gets you $12 worth of breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Original Perry's or Mr. Perry's in Central Sacramento.
Whether dining at Mr. Perry's or Original Perry's, patrons are met with hearty portions of homestyle fare for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For a carnivorous start, the monster meat omelette ($9.99) tosses bacon, sausage, ham, ground beef, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese in a pillowy four-egg sack, and four bacon strips lie next to three eggs ($8.19) on a plate mattress. Lunch rolls out with the he-man burger ($9.49), a half-pound burger steak topped with cheddar cheese, grilled onions, bacon, barbecue sauce, lettuce, tomato, and pickles, and a garlic turkey melt ($8.99), which keeps both hunger and vampires at bay. Dinnertime entices tongues with a selection of juicy steaks, including a 10-ounce rib eye ($10.99), and 8-ounce sirloin ($9.99), as well as sea options such as golden-fried fish and chips ($9.99), a grilled tilapia dinner ($9.49), and fillet of sole ($9.69).

Perry and Sophia Potiris opened the Original Perry's in 1968 at the local Arco station. The eatery, then known as Trukadero, was the first of Arco's coast-to-coast chain of truck-stop diners. Lines began to form for their fluffy omelets, fried chicken, and gravy-smothered meatloaf. When Perry and Sophia decided to retire from the restaurant world, they turned over the reins to a longtime employee who began his own career with them as a busboy at age 16.
