What You'll Get

The Issue: The Pulse Nightclub Shooting

Diversity at Groupon matters. Diversity in the world matters. Our differences make us smarter, more understanding and exceedingly human. We stand for diversity and inclusion, and we stand with Orlando.

Last weekend’s tragic events robbed the LGBT community of 49 lives, left 53 survivors injured, and impacted countless families and friends. Even as we grieve, there are opportunities to lend much-needed support to the victims, their families, and their community.

The Campaign: Supporting the Victims

All donations to this Grassroots campaign will be distributed in full by the National Compassion Fund to the victims of the Orlando shooting. Donors can give as much as they want in multiples of $10; these funds will help provide physical and emotional care to the victims and their families. The National Compassion Fund is working with Equality Florida—the state’s LGBT civil rights organization—to ensure fair distribution and transparency throughout the process. Groupon will match up to $10,000 in donations.

The National Center for Victims of Crime

The idea for the National Center for Victims of Crime grew out of tragedy. In 1985, Ala Isham and Alexander Auersperg’s mother become a victim of crime. They saw their family grapple and fight with the criminal justice system—adding another layer to her victimization. Isham and Auersperg sought to change this experience for others, advocating on behalf of victims and providing resources. After 30 years, the NCVC has become the nation’s largest organization dedicated to victims of all types of crime.

One outgrowth of the NCVC is the National Compassion Fund. This program offers a single point for the public to directly donate to victims of mass crime. Since its start, the program has assisted victims and family members impacted by Sandy Hook, Columbine, Aurora, and 9/11.
