Old Harpagon is a penny-pinching, desperate miser who loves his hidden fortune more than his own children. He's so committed to the life of a Miser he even starves his servants and refuses to pay them. But as Harpagon conspires to marry his son and daughter off to the most financially advantageous matches, his kids conspire to trick him out of his treasure. Full of greed, lies, conflict and paranoia, Molière's fast-paced comedy remains as timely -- and funny -- today as when it was first performed before Parisian audiences in 1668, thanks to this new version by Pulitzer Prize nominee Martin Sherman (Bent) that utilizes an Italian form of masked theatre known as Commedia dell'Arte. Catch all the zany antics of The Miser in this OU Theatre production at the Conant Performing Arts Center in Atlanta.
