Ouray Brewery prides itself on its rugged Colorado location so much that it named multiple brews after it. Box Canyon Brown, 550 Red, and Red Mountain Rye are just a few of the locale-themed concoctions at the family-owned craft brewery nestled in the San Juan Mountains. That pride filters into the beers, one of which took home the Judges Award for Best Lighter/Summer Beer at the San Juan Brewfest in 2012. The beer—Camp Bird Blonde Ale—is one of Ouray's core brews, while seasonal brews including the hops-filled San Juan IPA, the wintry Straighten Em Out Stout, and the malty Kayle's Scottish Ale show off the brewers' expertise in multiple styles and brewing techniques.
Another source of pride: the brewery's restaurant, which serves up gourmet pub cuisine ranging from chicken wings in orange-ginger red-ale sauce to Grilled Avocado Salads & House Smoked BBQ Ribs. Diners can perch in a swing chair strung up with festive lights or lounge on the rooftop deck while taking in the stunning mountain views and contemplating how many half-pound Angus burgers would need to be stacked on each other to reach the highest peak.
