Before the advent of riding lessons, ranch hands were tasked with the dangerous job of affixing horse training wheels. Saddle up for assistance-free equestrian riding with today's Groupon to Outback Stables in Ledyard. Choose between the following options:
For $80, you get four 30-minute horseback-riding lessons (a $160 value). Lessons can be redeemed weekdays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For $200, you get a weeklong horseback-riding camp (a $400 value). Camps run Monday–Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., the weeks of July 11–August 22.
Outback Stables' hoof handlers instill riders of all levels with the skill and confidence to saddle equine vehicles. Four 30-minute installments preface mounting a cantering steed with education on common horse care such as saddling, bridling, and how to tell which end is the front. Weeklong riding camps use two hours each day to delve deeper into equestrian tutelage with tips on grooming, bathing, and leading. Helpful instructors equip campers with introductory lessons on Western and trail riding. Lunch is not provided, so patrons are encouraged to supply their own oat bags and water troughs.
