Choose Between Two Options
- $29 for one 30-minute private horseback-riding lesson (a $55 value)
- $99 for four 30-minute private horseback-riding lessons (a $220 value)
Scheduled on weekdays, the custom lessons can accommodate all skill levels. Instructors teach beginners basic horsemanship—such as grooming and warming up—and help them ride for the first time. For more advanced students, lessons focus on skills such as jumping and barrel racing. Students may learn Western- or English-style riding.
England has a long equestrian history. In the military, army regiments would train with horses and learn to use reins, crops, and their legs to give commands. This training eventually evolved into the English style of horseback riding. The Western style of horseback riding, meanwhile, harkens back to the Wild West, when cowboys spent long days herding cattle and delivering cappuccinos to Clint Eastwood. The hard work necessitated a larger saddle and relied on the rider's bodyweight to communicate commands. These two historic styles still dominate the equestrian world today, and riders can master both English and Western riding at Outlaw Acres.
Whatever style students choose, they start by bonding with one of the barn's steeds—which include English, Western Pleasure, Dressage, and other types of horses. Instructors then help riders master new skills, such as jumping or barrel racing. The instructors also prepare students for competitions. Additionally, when the time comes for a serious commitment to horsemanship, Outlaw Acres can sell or lease students' horses of their very own.
