What You'll Get
Mounted police opt for equine transportation so they don’t have to deal with the squad car's wailing thirst for gas and justice. Avoid similar automotive appetites with today's Groupon to Oxford Farm in Swanton. Choose between the following options:
- For $25, you get a private horseback-riding lesson for one person (a $50 value).
- For $40, you get a private horseback-riding lesson for two people (a $100 value).
Oxford Farm owner Leslie Webb Janiak and her staff of experienced instructors teach equestrians of all skill levels to steer and care for horses during private lessons held in a 60'x180' indoor arena surrounded by sprawling green pastures. During the lesson, riders command the reins as their hairy mopeds trot and canter. Lessons last for 45–60 minutes, allowing students plenty of time to review tacking methods and strategies for shooting out stagecoach wheels on the go. After the lesson, tired pony pilots can refresh themselves in the stable's bathroom and shower facilities.
Guests can cheer on riders in a heated viewing room or steal away to barter horses for Richard III’s kingdom. Students should arrive 20–30 minutes early so they have time to check in with instructors and gather their gear if they're using school equipment. They should also wear long pants and hard-soled shoes with a heel of at least 1 inch.
