Q:

Coupon for the week, does that include from Sunday evening to Thursday? therefore not Friday & Sat? How do we get the fishing permit? thanks

marie-lynn s.  asked on  Dec 13, 2012

A:

Hi, The coupon is for a weekday. So Monday to Friday inclusive, daytime, between 9:00 and 5:30. If you wish to add an evening or a weekend day stay, for example sunday all day, sunday night and monday day, this can also be done for an extra cost. Permits can be purchased at the local Canadian Tire Thanks

Q:

Hi, are Quebec fishing licenses valid?

Stephane S.  asked on  Dec 10, 2012

A:

When fishing on the water in the Ottawa River, frozen or not, Quebec licenses are valid. The river is a shared waterway thus the licenses are shared. Note that since you are entering on the Ontario side, the Ontario regs apply. 2 lines per person only. Thanks Oziles'

Q:

Can the fish that are caught safe to eat??

Sherri Y.  asked on  Dec 10, 2012

A:

Hi, Generally speaking, yes they are. The Ministry of natural Ressources puts out a guide book for fish consumption in Ontario. We have free copies in the store. As with any fish (including salmon and most species) you have to be careful not to consume too many in too short a period. Most people prefer winter fish as they find them to be tastier. Oziles'

Q:

Do you have any huts with holes inside? With children, it's so much more fun if they can see what is happening below.

Kevin P.  asked on  Dec 10, 2012

A:

Hi, We keep the holes outside the huts for a few reasons. It provides for more spacing between holes, accomodating more fishermen, it improves the likelyhood of catching a fish as more terrain is covered, and it keeps the hut dry and warm. Also the visibility in the hole will be much better with the sun shining down. Thanks Oziles'
