Metalachi is the world’s only heavy metal mariachi band combining the two disparate genres for a set list that’s as unique as it is fun. These East Los Angeles musicians play metal favorites – Judas Priest’s “Breaking the Law,” Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train” and a Metallica-Scorpions mashup – with a theatrical stage show influenced by Mexican lucha wrestling. Not exactly what you’d expect from a mariachi band featuring acoustic guitars, horns and violin. Also on this cross-cultural tribute hill is Heavy Mellow, a band that puts a twist on metal classics by playing them with the smooth sound of flamenco guitars. They cover hits by Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth, Scorpions and more in their signature style, which has been dubbed “Flametal.” See both bands when they play The Hangar at the OC Fair.
