What You'll Get
Seattle's Pacific Northwest Ballet honors three of the world's greatest choreographers -- George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins and Twyla Tharp -- in American Stories, a program of epic ballet storytelling. At this McCaw Hall performance, you'll see Balanchine's Americana homage Square Dance, which combines classical ballet, 17th-century court dance and American country dance. Then, Robbins' first ballet, Fancy Free, hits the stage, channeling a hot, high-energy New York City night in 1944. The inspiration for On the Town, this exciting piece follows three sailors who are on shore leave and on the prowl. And, back by popular demand, Tharp's made-for-PNB Waiting at the Station rounds out American Stories, filling the hall with music by New Orleans jazz legend Allen Toussaint.
