When racecars are released into the wild, they revert to their naturally savage ways of guzzling oil and initiating illegal drag races with preschoolers riding Big Wheels. Observe speedsters in captivity with today's Groupon for admission to the Pacific Northwest Historics Vintage Car Races in Kent. Choose between the following options:
•For $12, you get a one-day adult ticket to the SOVREN Guild Vintage Races on Friday, July 1; Saturday, July 2; or Sunday, July 3 starting at 9:05 a.m. (up to a $25 value).
•For $20, you get a three-day adult pass to all racing and practice runs Friday, July 1–Sunday, July 3 (a $40 value).
The three-day blur of automotive history helmed by the SOVREN Guild's vintage-racecar enthusiasts zooms down the speedway for the 23rd year, showcasing classic pavement-prowlers with all proceeds benefitting the Seattle Children's Hospital. This year, the spotlight is on the 50th anniversary of the XKE Jaguar, but there are plenty of other fan favorites expected to be in the lineup of more than 200 model roadsters, such as Lotuses, vintage Cobras, and Austin-Healeys, along with rarer specimens such as Ginettas and Elvas. Spectators can also cheer for their favorite Italian-built Birel road steed in the Karting Challenge on July 1 or hope to meet celebrity guest and famed racecar driver and announcer Parker Johnstone.
Like robotic horses, the racecars at the Pacific Northwest Historics Vintage Car Races can reach up to 150 mph as they zoom down the two-and-a-quarter-mile stretch's three-quarter-mile straightaway, so be sure to keep a safe distance. Children under six years of age are admitted to the races for free. Gates open at 8:30 a.m. for spectators.
