The kitchen crew at Packrat Louie, winner of the 2010 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, serves fresh seafood, succulent steaks, wood-fired pizzas, and fine wines. The dinner menu tempts appetites with selections such as Sterling Silver premium meatballs stuffed with black truffles ($16) and a Sunrise Farms free-range chicken breast stuffed with parmesan and spinach ($26). Chefs wave a magic spatula at a wood-burning clay oven in the kitchen to produce six wood-fired pizzas, such as the crispy lemon pizza ($12) or the bacon-speckled spicy Hawaiian ($14). Guests can also pair a chili-rubbed venison tenderloin ($40) or butter-poached lobster tail ($38) with a glass of wine hailing from Canada, Italy, or Australia. Packrat Louie Restaurant has returned to its previous ownership, and Managing Partner Jodh Singh is excited to get back to the elegant eatery's roots. To help realize their vision Andrew Cowan was tapped as executive chef, who has has put his personal touch on the upscale menu. Wood-fired artisanal pizzas continue to be the specialty of the house: the signature lemon pizza—topped with fontina and mozzarella cheeses—is baked in a wood-burning clay oven before cooks squeeze fresh lemon over the top. These selections have been joined by a selection of refined dishes like the chicken masala perogies. Foie gras also features prominently on the menu: Chef Cowan adds the rich concoction to many dishes, where it adds a buttery and meaty touch. And with their wine list that has earned plaudits from Wine Spectator, the stylish interior with exposed brick walls, and their private dining room, Packrat Louie Restaurant is well-suited for celebrating special occasions in style.
