Experts lead ceramic & glass fusion projects as guests decorate their pieces with nontoxic paint or glimmering glass fragments
Creative talents, like houseplants and celebrities, wilt without proper attention. Nurture your muse with today's Groupon: for $12, you get $25 worth of studio fees and unpainted ceramics or glass at Ceramics & Coffee House @ Paint, Glaze & Fire in Overland Park. This Groupon cannot be used together with daily specials.
Paint, Glaze & Fire’s creative instructors cull a wide selection of ceramic and glass pieces as guests of all skill levels paint and assemble their own unique master works. Artisans begin by selecting pieces ($5–$50+ each) such as coffee mugs, picture frames, figurines, and one-use sledgehammers. Next, patrons peruse idea books, stamps, stencils, and finished pieces for inspiration before choosing their paint colors or glass options. All of the paint used at Paint, Glaze & Fire is nontoxic, lead-free, and food-safe—making it perfect for ornamenting plates, dishes, and novelty mouth guards. Once projects are complete, experts lovingly fire each piece, then wait about a week before calling back for pickup. Alternatively, glass fusion projects ($18+) incorporate glimmering glass fragments to create pendants and frames. Before artists take their varicolored beauties home, the kiln brings each glinting structure together by blasting it with intense heat and whistling its high-school fight song.
Studio fees ($8 for adults; $6 for children 18 and younger) include paint, all of the necessary supplies and tools, firing, and glazing. For glass fusion projects, slumping requires an $8 additional fee per piece.

About Paint Glaze and Fire
There is plenty to see, hear, and smell inside Paint Glaze & Fire. Here you’ll see rows of clay-colored mugs, vases, plates, pictures frames, and figurines next to bits of colored glass for fusion projects. Overhead, a mosaic of tiles painted by customers creates a colorful ceiling, and up front, an espresso bar grinds PT's coffee beans and steams milk for lattes.
In addition to the lively ambiance, there are activities for the whole family. Paint Glaze & Fire focuses on cultivating the creativity and curiosity of children. Kids' parties and summer camps actively engage youngsters, as do the Paint Me a Story sessions, where a favorite children's book is paired with a pottery-painting activity. With space to house 30 to 40 adult-size imaginations, the studio can also host corporate team-building events, girls' nights out, and other celebrations.
