Art helps people reach a wide audience without shouting from the top of radio towers, provocatively dancing behind local TV field reporters, or tying speech bubbles to migrating birds. Express yourself with this Groupon.

Over the course of eight hours, artist Lu Bellamak teaches the basics of composition and color mixing, then sets students free to create their own images on 18"x24" canvases. Held on Saturdays, the workshops offer opportunities for one-on-one learning with Lu and are open to students of all skill levels. Pupils take home their finished canvases at the end of class and are encouraged to bring a lunch or snack.

Paint With Lu

Lu Bellamak has spent two-thirds of her life forging a unique artistic process rooted in a desire for honest expression. Students are encouraged to paint their feelings and heed the wanderlust of the brush as it slips through oil and acrylics. A teacher of zen meditation and practitioner of gestalt therapy, Lu helps her pupils stow away their inhibitions as they tinker with abstract and expressionistic artwork and follow a process that involves recreating great works of art before beginning to design original work from scratch. Many former students continue to regularly show works in galleries or pretend they have a good reason for wearing a smock.
