Incredible museum with stuff to offer EVERYONE - paintings, taxidermy, early settler life, cars, wind energy and so much more. Make the time to go. You can not see everything in one day - so well worth attending.
Our group included 3 generations and we all found something to excite our interest. We spent an entire afternoon there and could have used more time. Thanks for a great day of learning and a glimpse into our history. We will be back.
Probably one of the best musuems you've never been to. The quality of presentation and size of the museum puts it in competition with many of the museum's I've been to in other much larger Cities. It's History and Art and hands on all rolled into impressive collections that really should be done in a 2 day tour.

About Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum
A century ago, most travelers had no choice but to explore the world by foot, unless, of course, they were rich enough to own a Wonkavator. With that in mind, they probably would appreciate visiting the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum—a facility that, in a sense, lets guests cover 26,000 square miles on foot in one visit. But that’s not the only big number behind the museum’s operation: it also houses more than 2 million artifacts, spanning 14,000 years of the region’s history. Inside, guests can marvel at themed displays, including those that showcase the Plains’ roots in paleontology, archaeology, and a renowned art collection. They can also relive the hardships and courage of living in the Old West while plodding through a life-size Pioneer Town.
