Sunset Valley Golf Course

Bent-grass fairways and pristine greens connect across 6,484 yards to form Sunset Valley Golf Course’s 18-hole, par-72 course. A stream runs diagonally throughout much of the course, which is made navigable by a series of bridges golfers can cross on foot or via golf cart. Golfers should be ready for occasional high-pressure shots: water hazards come into play on nine holes and bunkers loom throughout the layout. A staff of PGA professionals presides over the pro shop, ready to schedule lessons and manage the delicate egos of short irons.

About Park District of Highland Park

In 1909, the Park District of Highland Park managed a 2.5-square mile parcel of land. Over time, it grew to encompass a variety of natural oases in the suburbs of Chicago, including 600 acres of shoreline, forests, and recreational facilities. Community members can walk down wooded paths or sail off a Lake Michigan boat launch ramp in the summer. Year round, an indoor ice arena and indoor tennis and racquetball courts give people a chance to workout in a social setting. A variety of regular classes also challenge bodies and minds with martial arts, dance, ceramics, and soccer.
