What You'll Get
When you fitnessed alone, you couldn’t figure out the machines, did a wimpy walk on the treadmill, went home, and ate Funyons out of an old tire. Today’s Groupon brings back the buddy system with $45 for 30 days of unlimited TRX fitness classes and boot camps at Parker Fitness (a $180 value). You can attend sessions at one of four locations in Wash Park/Bonnie Brae, South Denver, and Niwot.
Anne Parker—a fitness presenter, a certified personal trainer, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist—subscribes to the TRX Suspension Training System philosophy. With two strong straps to hook on gym equipment, bootcampers are forced to work every area of the body. Traditional weight training works one muscle at a time, which can lead to overuse injuries and muscular imbalances; suspension training mimics the normal, coordinated muscle effort of ordinary activities by using multiple planes of motion to work muscles and joints simultaneously. Every movement is a total-body one, strengthening muscles while increasing flexibility to improve balance, posture, and strength.
Being self-motivated is hard work. The tasks you routinely complete are usually executed in response to gentle encouragement from the powers above (the IRS, the police, a boss, Dikembe Mutombo). Applying that approach to the area of exercise will increase your productivity and get you serious results.
