Hello What is the difference between Botox and Dysport? How many units does it usually take to be effective in either brow lift and "11"s What is the usual cost for this procedure? How long does it typically last and how effective are the results?

Both are botulinum A neurotoxin. The difference is the numbering systems which Allergan and Medicis use. The ratio is 1 unit of Botox = 2.5 units of Dysport, so the usual 20 units of Botox for the "11" lines = the 50 units of Dysport in this deal. To see if treatment will totally get rid of the lines, put a little traction on either side of the line with your fingers to simulate the muscles relaxing. If that eliminates the line, then that should be what you get. Deep, sharp lines will usually not be fully eliminated with the first treatment. I can advise you better after I evaluate your face. For your brow area, I will need to evaluate your muscle function above and below your brow. Usual fee for the "11" area is $300.00 for the 50 units of Dysport. How long the "effect" lasts, depends upon how healthy you are, i.e., how fat your new nerves grow to resupply the area. All of this education is covered in the free evaluation and consultation which you will receive, and you usually do not get elsewhere.

Hi Doctor - I'm not sure - Does this offer mean one treatment of Botox in the "11" area between the eyebrows? I am a 65 year old woman who has never had this done. Thanks - Eileen

Hi Eileen: Yes, 50 units of Dysport (which is equal to 20 units of Botox) is the usual dosage for your frown lines (the "11"). Thanks for the question. Other first timers probably have the same question. Doc G
