Published photographer shares camera techniques and more during on-location classes
A photographic memory is a blessing and a curse: you can remember everything, but none of it is open for interpretation. Share the burden every camera must carry with today’s Groupon for a photography workshop from PBJ Candids Photography. Choose between the following options:
- For $39, you get an amateur DSLR workshop, shot on location in Elysian Park on Sunday, December 11, at 12 p.m. or Sunday, January 15 at 11 a.m. (a $99 value).
- For $59, you get a fashion-model photography workshop held at downtown landmark on Sunday, December 11, at 2 p.m.; Monday, December 12, at 2 p.m.; or Monday, January 16, at 2 p.m. (a $125 value).
With photography published in Martha Stewart Weddings magazine, PBJ Candids’ Jennifer Emery has more than 20 years of frame-freezing experience. During the amateur DSLR workshop, the skilled shutterbug passes on her camera-wielding tutelage. Novice photographers learn through hands-on lessons, practicing shutter-snapping skills with a model present during the workshop (a $10 model fee due the day of the class is not included with today’s deal). The beginner session covers basic operation of the camera’s tools—f-stops, shutter speed, exposure, and depth of field—allowing students to capture self-portraits that can be framed and hung on walls or glued to cereal boxes so that people will think you’re an Olympic athlete.
Photographers of all levels are welcomed to attend the fashion-model photography workshop and practice skills on live models (a $15 model fee due the day of the class is not included). Emery teaches shutter-snapping students techniques such as posing, framing, and covering natural, bounce, and fill flash methods, so photographers can ensure they highlight the model’s best features and any beauty moles shaped like Jupiter.
If necessary, more dates may be added for both options.
