Scientists agree that children are our future, which is why most children are sealed in time capsules with a flashlight and a stack of magazines. Give a child something he or she will really dig with today's Groupon: for $80, you get one week of summer camp (a $160 value) at Peaceful Warrior Martial Arts & Healing Center in Scottsdale. The camp is designed for kids ages 6–13.
Peaceful Warrior Martial Arts & Healing Center’s karate summer camp offers healthy, constructive fun for offseason students. In three daily classes, experienced martial-arts gurus teach tykes the ancient techniques of Shorin-Ryu karate and jiu-jitsu on a safe campus padded with lush grass. Exhilarating sessions will imbue campers with confidence, practical self-defense skills, new friendships, and battle cries sure to strike terror in pet hamsters. The remaining hours of a camper’s day are stuffed with team-building activities and games, outdoor play, and arts and crafts. Each week, budding Bruce Lees also embark on a field trip on an adventure such as the zoo, rock-climbing, or roller-skating. The Center provides healthy snacks and full supervision from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., ensuring parents an entire day to focus on their own care and feeding.
Peaceful Warrior Martial Arts & Healing Center
Founded by fourth-dan black belt Richard Poage, Peaceful Warrior Martial Arts & Healing Center continues his mission to help students build discipline and learn self-defense through classes that teach shorin-ryu karate, jujitsu, and kobudo weapons training. Camps and after-school programs keep kids from spending their days sprawled in front of the TV or taking catnaps behind it. The school's healing center keeps students in top shape with holistic health services such as massage, acupuncture, and shiatsu massage.
