Since the rise of the Internet, people have struggled to tear their now-useless phone books in half. Bulk up to succeed where others have failed with today’s Groupon: for $39, you get one month of fitness-boot-camp sessions at Peak Physiques (a $90 value), located inside Sport Port Indoor Soccer Center.
Trainer Jason Grantham wields 12 years of personal-training experience when leading Peak Physiques' intense 60-minute boot-camp sessions, which mix core-strengthening calisthenics with suspension-band workouts and other body-toning techniques. After a warm-up limbers stiff muscles, a sweat session works them until they pant individually, then abs exercises whittle lean core muscles. Strength- and cardio-focused workouts may use tires and heavy “battling ropes,” which recall old-school workout regimens such as hoop rolling and dialing giant rotary phones. Participants at all fitness levels can work out in any session on Peak Physiques' schedule, or in recently added sessions at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays (not yet listed on the schedule). Clients interested in continuing chiseled pursuits can also enlist in the studio's varied fitness curriculum, which also includes Zumba and Pilates.
After witnessing his father struggle with health problems, as well as fighting his own war with diabetes, trainer Jason Grantham has come to realize firsthand the importance of physical fitness. This understanding has blossomed into a full-time passion for helping others to train to their peak and achieve overall well-being. Grantham wields 12 years of personal-training experience and a motivating, failure-is-not-an-option attitude while leading intense 60-minute boot-camp sessions, which mix core-strengthening calisthenics with suspension-band workouts and other body-toning techniques.
When not bustling with the strength- and cardio-focused boot camps, Grantham's well-equipped facility houses Pilates and yoga classes as well as athletic training that equips athletes of all ages with game-enhancing conditioning.
