If you’ve ever tried to tricycle, you know that two wheels and three feet just aren’t enough. Today’s side deal keeps you upright and away from sudden, brief affairs with the pavement with a one-hour rental of a 16-person pedal bicycle from Pedal Party for $60. Beginning April 1, the Pedal Party is normally $160 per hour on Sunday through Thursday and $190 per hour on Friday and Saturday. You can purchase up to 10 Groupons for 10 hours of Pedal Partying, though they must all be used in a single party. A designated, provided driver steers the human-powered monstrosity on a route of your choosing or along a predetermined path—all you have to do is pedal and share your beautiful, boozey singing voice with all of downtown, the Kemah boardwalk, or Minute Maid Park. The bike is generally available from 10 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., rain or shine.
Though you’re free to take the machine on a pub crawl or bring your own under-21 drinks, alcoholic drinks are only allowed onboard for very specific routes. Check the FAQ page for drinking restrictions and other information. You can keep the afternoon clean and family oriented too, which is especially easy if you have multiple wives and enough children to fill all the seats. This centipedal device has the distinction of being one of only two activities perfect for both bachelorette parties and church outings, the other being barbecue wrestling. And since the cruiser never tops eight miles per hour, you’ll be safe from accidents and, if not every chupacabra, at least the fat ones.
ABC 13 featured Pedal Party as a game-changing and entertaining way to tour downtown.
