What You'll Get
The Pennsylvania Ballet's 52nd season and its inaugural campaign under artistic director Angel Corella rolls on with a new sense of excitement and diversity through A Program of Firsts at Philadelphia's Kimmel Center. The company kicks off the performance with Serenade, George Balanchine's first original ballet created in the U.S., a modern masterpiece set to Tchaikovsky. Next up is the much anticipated world-premiere piece by choreographer-in-residence Matthew Neenan, with a score by Troy Herion, followed by the North American and company debut of British dance creator Liam Scarlett's Asphodel Meadows, which offers a series of pas de deux set to Poulenc's lively dueling pianos.
Pennsylvania Ballet’s pre-show discussions begin one hour prior to show time and are free and open to all patrons holding a ticket for the performance that follows. Preludes are a great way to meet other ballet fans, enhance your knowledge of the art form, and get to know the artists behind Pennsylvania Ballet’s beautiful and thrilling performances.
