What You'll Get
Creative talents, like houseplants and celebrities, wilt without proper attention. Shower fine craftsmen with proper attention using today's Groupon: for $8, you get two tickets to the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen Fine Craft Fair (a $12 value in advance online; a $16 value at the door), taking place on Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Sunday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Today's Groupon can also get you 20% off entry to any of the fair's Make & Take workshops. Classes are limited to 15 students, so hurry to reserve your spot if interested.
Now in its fifth year, the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen Fine Craft Fair celebrates the art of high-quality hand craftsmanship. Featuring a medley of finely made furniture, clothing, jewelry, and sculptures, the two-day fair satisfies artisans and aficionados alike with displays by around 190 established and emerging craftspeople and artists. Live demonstrations throughout the event help patrons understand the technique and devotion required to craft mantle-worthy works ranging from watercolor paintings to wooden silverware. Summer 2011 exhibitors feature galleries from 23 states, including nationally known craft studios such as Saenger Porcelain and Ball Point Graphics.
Knowledge-hoarding guests can also sign up for one of the fair's four Make & Take workshops, during which they'll work with an instructor to craft a hands-on project that they can then take home to finish and eventually gift away during Secret Santa season. This year's seminars include classes on watercolor greeting cards, handmade journals, traditional stenciling, and dry-felt wool animals.
