Q:

I have white spots on my teeth I've had since birth. Would you be able to whiten around the white spots, thus not making the white spots brighter?

ellie  asked on  Nov 8, 2012

A:

Sometimes the white spots will blend in with the color on the rest of the surface of each tooth and sometimes the white spots will become more apparent after the whitening but it ultimately depends on the stains and well your teeth take to the hydrogen peroxide. The best way to describe the whitening process is that it reduces or eliminates the stains on your teeth so that should be the main focus if someone is intending to do a teeth whitening session. Thanks for the question. :)

Q:

Generally, how long does this tooth whitening last?

Patrick .  asked on  Nov 6, 2012

A:

Generally the whitening should last for at least 18 months or longer. It ultimately depends on what is staining the teeth and the routine brushing and rinsing maintenance to remove the staining agents as they come into contact with the teeth.

Q:

Will I be a candidate even if I see a periodontist regularly for treatment of gum disease.

Diana G.  asked on  Nov 6, 2012

A:

I recommend that you consult with your dentist prior to doing a whitening session. The reason for this is if a person has a current tooth or gum issue then this could cause you to have sensitivity during the whitening session.
