Unlike visiting a neighbor’s house, visiting a steakhouse comes with a virtual guarantee that you’ll be welcomed, fed, and trusted with knives. Make a hunger-halting house call with today’s Groupon: for $25, you get $50 worth of seafood, steak, drinks, and more at Pete Miller's Seafood and Prime Steak. This Groupon is good at Pete Miller's Evanston and Wheeling locations.
Recently acquired by the culinary masterminds behind Tommy Nevin’s Pub, Pete Miller’s arouses appetites with a bevy of prime-aged steaks, seafood, and other tasteful temptations. Menus vary between the two locations, but each protein palace packs plenty of elegance for romantic nights out and abundant heartiness for hockey-team company retreats. The Wheeling location whips up a lunch menu stocked with midday decadence, including a crab-cake-topped Jack Hammer burger ($10.95) and a prime steak salad wrap that rolls rib-eye steak, fresh veggies, and chunky blue cheese in a tortilla sweater ($10.95). The same location’s dinner menu offers up signature dishes such as Aunt Franci’s prime skirt steak, served with roasted red potatoes and marinated in a mixture so secretive its recipe can only be whispered in pig Latin ($24.95). The Evanston location doesn’t offer lunch, but the dinner menu sports premium cuts of steak aged for 21 days as well as aquatic edibles such as North Atlantic salmon ($24.95), which is flown in daily and given its own dressing room full of brown M&Ms.
Accompany a steak and seafood feast at either Pete Miller’s location with a helping from Pete’s enormous posses of bottled beer, draft beer, and drafty wines. Both the Evanston and Wheeling locations showcase live jazz as well as stunning dining rooms strewn with timeless elegance, with cozy booths and generous tables harboring noshing maws and snapping fingers. The Wheeling location supplements the interior scenery with a whopping 250-seat outdoor patio equipped with a 50-seat granite bar, three giant fireplaces, and a proscenium of lush greenery.
Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak
With live jazz music, USDA Prime steaks aged at least 21 days, and the freshest of seafood, Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak is a living tribute to the colorful life of Harold “Pete” Miller. Miller grew up an avid hunter, studied History in college, and earned a Purple Heart as a marine in WWII. He even spent time slinging hats, before eventually settling on becoming a music salesman—a profession that would ignite his love of jazz and lead him to the rhythm-rich city of Chicago. Once settled, he discovered the Davis Street Fishmarket in Evanston where he became a regular, albeit outspoken, patron. He incessantly offered recommendations and recipe suggestions, eventually inciting the chef to hand him an apron and shout, “Do it yourself if you think you know so much!” Miller accepted the challenge and kicked off his culinary career with his usual flair and spontaneity.
Today, the pair of restaurants proudly carrying his name keep his legacy alive, hosting live jazz almost every night of the week, just like he would have wanted. In addition to the regular dinner menu, which features the likes of whole steamed lobsters and bone-in fillets, there’s also a bar menu that boasts more casual eats, such as burgers and sandwiches dressed in khaki slacks. The Wheeling location’s 250-seat patio features a granite bar with room for 50 people, as well as three huge fireplaces.
