Had a great time on the water paddle boarding. Our instructor Maria helped us with our paddle boarding techniques. I recommend that you take a lesson with Maria before paddle boarding on your own. Be safe and have fun. Ann

We loved our SUP Lesson. Maria was an amazing instructor and got us up on the boards in no time. Once we got the basics down, she showed us some harder moves to try in the future and gave us lots of pointers on how to improve our form and get the most out of paddle boarding. The area we paddled in was gorgeous and we worked up a sweat! 5 Stars, easily :-)

What You'll Get

Surfing is a sport infinitely preferable to serfing, which lacked an "aloha spirit" and a proper understanding of wave intensity. Choose the former option with today's deal: for $32, you get an hour-and-a-half-long surfing lesson, including board and wetsuit rental, from Peter Pan Surfing Academy in Narragansett (up to a $65 value). Request a private lesson or a group lesson when booking (private lessons subject to time and availability).

Sidle up to one of Peter Pan’s fully NSSIA-accredited instructors and gird your balance nodes for an hour and a half of wave-based fun. Whether you've always wanted to ride the crest of a tidal wave or this desire is a sudden passing fancy, the instructors will give you their full attention and the benefit of years of knowledge. The school offers surfing lessons year-round and provides high-quality rental surfboards and wetsuits to students, with a full range of hard, soft, epoxy, and fiberglass boards in stock. Once you've slipped fluidly over the surface of the water, glided over hermit crabs, and stalked tunicates and G.I. Joes with Barbie heads, it's hard not to spend all your spare time on a board. Plus, surfing provides a great high-repetition workout that forces you to focus on your core and use your whole body in unison.

Peter Pan has been in continuous operation since 1978, though they look surprisingly young for their age and are frequently seen gallivanting about town with a glittering, sprite companion. With a company philosophy rooted in customer service, not service to that damp busybody Poseidon, students are given the utmost respect and attention while attending classes. Surfing is a fun way to enjoy the outdoors, an impressive skill to flaunt at underwater soirees, and an opportunity to wear a skin-tight wetsuit in public without getting arrested.

Peter Pan Surfing Academy was featured in the Pawtucket Times. It was also listed in Surfer magazine's 2008 Camp Guide and featured on the Mom Generations blog:

  • …Pan surfed in competitions around New England, up and down the East Coast and California, and in foreign water. He racked up hundreds of victories and collected countless trophies that usually found their ways into the recycling bin because there was no room to store them in his Sayles Avenue house. – Eric Benevides, Pawtucket Times
  • And let me tell you something here, folks… Peter Pan is a legend. – Sharon, Mom Generations
